E-learning RECO Module 1 – Understanding the environmental and climate impact of international solidarity actions, CCD, February 2024

Published on 15 February 2024

What is the environmental and climate impact of the international solidarity sector? Why should NGOs take action to reduce their footprint? What is at stake? If you would like to gain a better understanding of the links between development or humanitarian projects and the environment, and consider ways of taking action at the level of your organisation, then this course is for you!

While NGOs play a crucial role in meeting the exponential needs of populations affected by the consequences of climate change, they must at the same time, like all other sectors, commit to a strategy of reducing their climate and environmental footprint.

With this in mind, as part of the PAMOC4 project co-financed by AFD, Coordination Sud’s Climate and Development Commission is offering a series of 4 training modules on the Environmental and Climate Responsibility of Organisations to inspire and support NGOs in their efforts.

With this first module on the environmental and climatic impact of international solidarity actions, we invite you to :

  • Understand the causes and consequences of the environmental and climate crisis
  • Understand the interactions between international development projects, climate change and the environment, both positive and negative
  • Find out about the main areas of impact and the orders of magnitude
  • Consider initial courses of action

Duration: between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes. The course can be followed independently, using the online capsules accompanied by links to resource documents for further study.

This training course is offered as part of the PAMOC4 project run by GRET, CARE France, Geres, Electriciens sans Frontières and CARI.
