Humanitarian action is increasingly shaped by climate and environmental risks – yet the practical tools needed to assess and mitigate these risks are under threat due to shrinking funding. The rapid environmental screening tool NEAT+ which is widely adopted and used by the humanitarian community of practice is one of these endangered instruments.
The joint position paper “SAVE OUR NEAT+ – Safeguarding Environmental Standards in Humanitarian Action” which has been edited by a German technical working group calls on donors, policy makers and the humanitarian community to take action to preserve and further develop this tool in order to meet the requirement to “Do no Harm”.
Organisations wishing to co-sign this communication are invited to send their written consent and logo by June 26, 2026, to advocacy@adra.de – which is also the right address for possible questions.
Warning, this is a draft and not the final version of the position paper!
