Article “White savior syndrome, neocolonialism, climate change… how can we rethink international aid?”, The Conversation, February 2025

Formerly colonized countries are among the most vulnerable to anthropogenic climate change. These environmental hazards exacerbate the economic and social vulnerabilities they already face. This situation raises many questions for international aid actors and Western NGOs, whose model is often considered highly carbon-intensive and sometimes neo-colonial. In the current context, which is also marked by a drastic reduction in dedicated budgets, what practices are French NGOs putting in place to transform their management?
