Whether you live in a densely populated urban area or in a rural area, whether you have access to public transportation or not, whether you live in a well-insulated home or an old building, the scope for action in the context of the energy transition is not the same. Everyday activities such as heating, transportation, and food do not have the same impact or cost.
To better understand how the energy transition – or lack thereof – influences these disparities, The Shift Project has chosen to devote the third edition of its Academic Meetings, on April 10, 2025, to the differentiated challenges of the transition according to social groups and territories. The aim was to highlight these differences in exposure and capacity to adapt, in order to engage in a collective reflection on how to adjust transition policies to the realities on the ground.
As at each of these Academic Meetings, a panel of speakers from the world of research was brought together to exchange views and contribute to the discussion on the subject:
