Forum REH (in French) – “How do NGOs can advocate and position themselves politically in the face of ecological, social, and democratic challenges?” 22/01/2026

As climate commitments seem increasingly out of reach and authoritarianism invades our societies, as funding for solidarity, culture, education, and health are being severely cut, while humanitarian needs are increasing across the globe and the Earth’s habitability is increasingly threatened, what can we do, what can we say, and how can we position ourselves as actors of international solidarity? While many of us ask ourselves these questions, the answers are often diverse.

To discuss this, we were pleased to welcome:

• Jade Chartereau, project manager for the NGO Envol Vert and author of the thesis “Should humanitarian NGOs advocate for climate action?” (in French)
• Jean-Martial Charancle, co-founder of Kayros and author of the study “Pursue, adapt, or reinvent oneself in the face of headwinds. What capacity for action do organizations organisations engaged in international solidarity have in a political and geopolitical context that calls their legitimacy into question?” (in French)

The forum was held online and in person on January 22 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (UTC +1)!
