What if rethinking our relationship with nature was the key to a new development model?
As planetary boundaries are being severely exceeded and human rights are regressing around the world, AFD is organizing a conference in Paris on nature protection and the systemic transformations we must undertake, in a context where multilateralism and the post–World War II international order are increasingly being challenged.
This event aims to explore how a rights-based approach to development – first focused on human rights and now extending to the rights of nature – can adapt to today’s geopolitical upheavals.
This conference is part of a research cycle launched in 2020 on rights-based approaches – human and beyond – and seeks to question our collective ability to build more just, sustainable, and resilient development pathways.
The program:
The conference will close with a cocktail reception starting at 6:30 PM.
This hybrid event will offer simultaneous interpretation in French, English, and Spanish.
