Why is this important?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Climate change and environmental degradation are exacerbating humanitarian needs.
At the same time, budget cuts are jeopardising environmental assessment tools such as NEAT+<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without these tools:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • environmental risks remain unseen;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • humanitarian projects lose their ecological sustainability;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • costs rise over time;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • years of investment and expertise are lost.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    What is NEAT+?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    The Nexus Environmental Assessment Tool (NEAT+) is the most widely used rapid environmental assessment tool in humanitarian action. It helps humanitarian organisations to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • identify environmental risks at an early stage;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • improve project quality;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • uphold the “Do no harm (to the environment)” principle;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • strengthen donor accountability;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • make better project decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Our key calls<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      We call on donors and policy-makers to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • ensure dedicated, multi-year funding for NEAT+;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • recognise environmental assessment as essential humanitarian infrastructure;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • support the tool\u2019s ongoing governance and technical development;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
