{"id":4598,"date":"2025-10-20T15:49:25","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T13:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.environnementhumanitaire.org\/?p=4598"},"modified":"2025-10-28T10:44:55","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T09:44:55","slug":"meeting-of-the-executive-directors-of-reh-member-organizations-17-10-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.environnementhumanitaire.org\/en\/meeting-of-the-executive-directors-of-reh-member-organizations-17-10-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Meeting of the Executive Directors of REH Member Organizations, 17\/10\/2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-txt-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cfa5f204d2d44e06f61eee1f89c83d17\">On October 17, 2025, around twenty Executive Directors from REH member NGOs gathered to make key decisions and reaffirm their commitment to a just and effective ecological transition within the international aid sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2705 <strong>Update on the progress of the ecological transition within the aid sector, and particularly within REH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 A tightening geopolitical context \ud83d\udc49 increasing humanitarian needs \ud83d\udc49 loss of access to certain areas \ud83d\udc49 the rise of far-right and authoritarian movements \ud83d\udc49 a drastic reduction in aid funding \ud83d\udc49 the loss of environmental focal points in some organizations&#8230; The indicators are in the red. Yet, despite these challenges, environmental issues continue to gain traction within organizations and among donors\u2757Numerous initiatives and activities demonstrate genuine progress toward integrating ecological transition into the aid sector -even if much remains to be done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2705 <strong>Clarification of the targets of the Humanitarian Organizations\u2019 Climate Commitment Declaration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December 2020, 10 NGOs signed the <em>Declaration of Commitment of Humanitarian Organizations on Climate<\/em>, later joined by 5 new signatories &#8211; a strong signal of mobilization and evidence of real political engagement within the NGO community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, some updates have become necessary.<br>\u25b6\ufe0f See the position paper of the signatories on this matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These discussions particularly highlighted emerging challenges related to climate and environmental justice. The exchanges were rich and thought-provoking, focusing on how best to address these issues and reaffirm the sector\u2019s ambition in the face of ecological backlash and growing attacks on international aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this amendment, the signatory organizations remain ambitious and are directing their efforts where they can be most impactful and just. More information coming soon\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2705 <strong>Future of REH<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-txt-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3e9403d3d45e03d3505b1fc8efbe5d91\">The discussions also addressed the future of REH &#8211; its activities, governance, and economic model.
