{"id":4154,"date":"2025-05-05T11:03:53","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T09:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.environnementhumanitaire.org\/?p=4154"},"modified":"2025-05-07T11:46:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T09:46:18","slug":"conference-protecting-nature-at-a-time-when-planetary-boundaries-are-being-crossed-and-geopolitical-shifts-paris-may-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.environnementhumanitaire.org\/en\/conference-protecting-nature-at-a-time-when-planetary-boundaries-are-being-crossed-and-geopolitical-shifts-paris-may-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference &#8220;Protecting nature at a time when planetary boundaries are being crossed and geopolitical shifts&#8221;, AFD, 21\/05\/2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>What if rethinking our relationship with nature was the key to a new development model?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As planetary boundaries are being severely exceeded and human rights are regressing around the world,\u00a0<strong>AFD is organizing a conference in Paris on nature protection and the systemic transformations we must undertake, in a context where multilateralism and the post\u2013World War II international order are increasingly being challenged.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event aims to explore how a rights-based approach to development \u2013 first focused on human rights and now extending to the rights of nature \u2013 can adapt to today\u2019s geopolitical upheavals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This conference is part of\u00a0<strong>a research cycle launched in 2020 on rights-based approaches \u2013<\/strong> <strong>human and beyond<\/strong> <strong>\u2013 <\/strong>and seeks to question our collective ability to build more just, sustainable, and resilient development pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The program:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Economists, Lawyers, Researchers, and field practitioners will discuss:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The relationship between nature and the economy<\/strong>: What place for nature, what impacts?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The intersection of human rights and the rights of nature<\/strong>: tensions, complementarities, and narratives of transformation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Concrete initiatives<\/strong>\u00a0embedding the rights of the living in public policies and local practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference will close with&nbsp;<strong>a cocktail reception starting at 6:30 PM.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This hybrid event will offer simultaneous interpretation in French, English, and Spanish.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What if rethinking our relationship with nature was the key to a new development model?
